Types of Popular Switches

There are different types of switches present. Below are given some of the most popular ones in the category.

Push button switch: In smaller electrical appliances push button switches are very much common. Here the presence of a switch decides on and off of the circuit. In a few cases, the button comes back to the original position whereas, in some, it remains at the on or off position till you press it again.

Toggle/ rocker: You can easily recognize them like the ones that are used in the household switchboards. There is an angled lever present which keeps the switch in an angled position of on and off. Electrical appliances manufacturer usually produces these types of switches.

Door switches: They are commonly found in restricted places like hospitals and vaults. On the door frame they are attached and the closing and opening of the door act as the on and off or the circuit.

Slide: In small and simple electrical projects and appliances we use them. In this, to control the flow of the electricity, the switch slides from off to on point and vice versa.

Limit switches: An actuator plunger is used to change the way the electrical circuit is in. The switch turns from on to off or vice versa whenever it comes in contact with a moving object.
